Professor Christopher Norris, a British philosopher and literary critic, graduated from University College London in 1975 with a PhD in English. After an early career in literature and music criticism (he wrote for the now-defunct Music and Recording magazine in the late 1970s), Norris moved to the Department of Philosophy in Cardiff in 1991. In 1997, the Cardiff School of English, Language & Philosophy awarded him the title of Distinguished Research Professor. In a number of institutions, including the University of California, Berkeley, New York City University, Aarhus University, and Dartmouth College, he has held fellowships and guest appointments.

He is one of the leading deconstruction thinkers in the world and Jacques Derrida's research. He has written numerous literature theory books and papers, continental philosophy, art philosophy, language philosophy, and science philosophy. More recently, he concentrated on Alain Badiou's work in relation to both the analytical tradition (especially mathematics analytical philosophy) and Derrida's philosophy.
